SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On Thurs., June 4 at approximately 4:00 PM, Royalton police were dispatched to 644 North Road (North Road Auto & Tire) in Royalton for a report of a man threatening a female with a gun. It was also reported that the man was holding the gun to the female’s head attempting to have her call off police response.

Two Royalton police units responded to the scene with nine units from Vermont State Police. Upon arrival, all units staged on North Road overlooking the incident scene. The roadway was closed down to prevent traffic from traversing the area in front of the incident scene. The man, identified as Didace G. Lacroix, 71, of Royalton, was seen walking around with a shotgun. Throughout the next approximately 30 minutes, numerous attempts were made to contact Lacroix by use of the “PA” loud speaker in one of the cruisers. Lacroix refused to follow the directives to put down the gun. Lacroix eventually did put down the gun and was taken into custody. Investigation revealed that Lacroix, owner of North Road Auto & Tire, allegedly pointed the shotgun at two female employees (identified above), threatened to shoot them, causing them to fear for their lives.

Lacroix was arrested and processed at the Royalton barracks. Lacroix was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 bail. He was cited to appear in Windsor Superior Court Criminal Division on 6/5/2015 at 12:30 PM to answer to the charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (2 counts); Reckless Endangerment (2 counts); Interference with Access to Emergency Services; Simple Assault; and Violation of Probation.
